Sewer Line Repair & Replacement
in Cape Coral & Lee County, FL
We don't guess where to dig. We camera-inspect first, mark the exact problem location on the surface, and repair precisely what needs repairing, nothing more. After repair, the camera goes back into the line to confirm integrity before we backfill. That's the standard. No other Cape Coral sewer repair company commits to camera confirmation on both sides of every repair.

When Your Cape Coral Sewer Line Needs Repair, Not Just Cleaning
Hydrojetting and snaking address what's inside the pipe, grease, roots, scale. They cannot address what's wrong with the pipe itself. When the camera reveals structural damage, repair is the only solution that will last. Continuing to clean a structurally damaged line is expensive maintenance without resolution, the same symptoms return because the root cause isn't being addressed.
The camera inspection that precedes every service we perform is the diagnostic that determines whether cleaning or repair is the right response. We make this call honestly, repair is more expensive than cleaning, and we don't recommend it unless the camera confirms it's necessary.
Recurring Blockages After Cleaning
Root intrusion returns within weeks of hydrojetting, indicates roots are entering through a compromised pipe joint that cleaning can clear but not seal. Only repair stops reentry.
Camera Shows Structural Damage
Cracks in pipe walls, collapsed sections, or severely offset joints visible on camera. These conditions cannot be resolved with cleaning, the pipe structure itself is compromised.
Wet or Sunken Yard Areas
Soft, wet ground or a sunken area over the sewer lateral path, often indicating a sewer line leak feeding the surrounding soil. Camera diagnosis before any excavation confirms the location and severity.
Persistent Sewage Odor
A sewage smell that persists after drain cleaning, not from the drain itself but from around the property or inside the structure, can indicate a leaking or cracked sewer line releasing gas through soil.
Rodent or Insect Activity
Rats, roaches, and other pests entering through the home plumbing, a reliable indicator of a broken sewer line providing a direct pathway from the soil into the building's plumbing system.
Home Built Before 1980 — Never Inspected
Cape Coral homes built in the 1970s with clay tile or early cast iron sewer sections that have never been camera-inspected. Proactive camera inspection before failure is significantly less expensive than emergency repair after collapse.
Cape Coral's Three Sewer Pipe Materials. What Your Home Has and What to Expect
Repair method, urgency, and expected lifespan all depend on what material your sewer lateral is made of. Build year is the most reliable indicator, here's what Cape Coral homes typically have.
Clay Tile (Vitrified Clay Pipe)
The oldest sewer pipe material in Cape Coral's established neighborhoods. Clay tile was the standard through the late 1970s, sections are now 45 to 60+ years old. Individual clay segments (typically 12 to 18 inch lengths) joined together mean numerous joint connections throughout the lateral, each a potential root entry point.
Cast Iron
Cast iron replaced clay tile as the preferred material through the 1980s, more durable but still subject to corrosion. Cape Coral's coastal environment and slightly acidic soil accelerate cast iron corrosion compared to inland Florida. The bottom of the pipe where water flows is most vulnerable, pitting and cracking develop along the pipe floor first.
PVC (Schedule 40 & SDR-35)
Modern PVC sewer pipe, the current standard since the mid-1990s. Corrosion-resistant, smooth interior, and significantly longer design life than clay or cast iron. PVC failures are less common and typically involve mechanical damage, improper installation, root pressure at joints, or damage from construction activity near the lateral rather than material deterioration.
Note on mixed materials: Many Cape Coral homes, particularly those that have had partial repairs over the years, have laterals with multiple pipe materials. Clay tile to cast iron to PVC in the same run is not uncommon. Camera inspection identifies each material section, guides method selection, and confirms which sections are sound and which require repair.
Sewer Repair Methods. Honest Guidance on Which Is Right for Your Cape Coral Situation
There is no single best repair method, the right approach depends entirely on what the camera shows. Here's each method, when it's appropriate, and when it isn't.
Spot Repair. Targeted Excavation
The most direct repair approach, excavate only the damaged section identified by the camera, replace or repair that specific section, and backfill. Camera surface location marking makes this precise and minimally disruptive.
Open-Cut Lateral Replacement
Traditional excavation of the full sewer lateral from the house to the street connection, replacing the entire run with new pipe. The most comprehensive repair approach, appropriate when camera shows widespread damage throughout the lateral rather than isolated defects.
Pipe Lining (CIPP — Cured-In-Place Pipe)
A resin-saturated felt liner is inserted through the existing pipe and inflated against the pipe walls, then cured in place, creating a new pipe within the old one without excavation. Highly effective for cracked or deteriorated pipe where the original pipe is still substantially present to support the liner.
Pipe Bursting
A bursting head is pulled through the existing pipe, fracturing it outward into the surrounding soil while simultaneously pulling a new pipe into place behind it. Replaces the pipe in its existing path with minimal surface disruption, only small access pits at entry and exit points.
Our approach: We camera-inspect before recommending any repair method. The camera footage determines which method is appropriate for your specific pipe condition, not a default preference for the most expensive or the most convenient option. We explain the trade-offs honestly and provide a flat-rate quote for the recommended approach before any work begins.
Sewer Repair Under Driveways, Pool Decks & Landscaping. The Cape Coral Slab Home Reality
Cape Coral's predominant home style, large single-story slab construction with extensive concrete driveways, pool decks, and mature landscaping, creates specific complexities for sewer repair that significantly affect method selection and cost. This is the context most repair companies either don't understand or don't explain clearly.
Damage Under the Driveway
Sewer laterals in Cape Coral often cross under the concrete driveway, the most disruptive and expensive access scenario. Surface location marking from our camera inspection identifies whether the damage is under the driveway or can be accessed from the adjacent lawn.
Damage Near Pool Decks
Pool decks in Cape Coral backyards often extend over or near sewer lateral paths, particularly in larger properties where the pool occupies much of the yard. Damage under a pool deck requires careful method selection to avoid deck damage.
Damage Under Mature Landscaping
Established tropical landscaping, the same vegetation that causes root intrusion, can complicate excavation access and restoration. Large root systems from ficus and banyan interfere with both excavation and the pipe lining process.
Damage Under or Near the House Slab
In some Cape Coral homes, the sewer lateral exits beneath the house slab before reaching the exterior. Damage in this section is the most complex access scenario, slab cutting may be required in addition to excavation.
The surface location marking principle in sewer repair: The camera inspection with surface locator doesn't just diagnose the problem, it determines the access strategy before a single shovel goes into the ground. Knowing whether damage is under lawn, driveway, or pool deck, and at exactly what depth, changes the repair plan and the cost entirely. This is why we never skip the camera step before any repair, and why surface marking is part of every diagnosis we perform.
Clean or Repair? The Cape Coral Decision Framework
This is the decision every Cape Coral homeowner with recurring drain problems needs to make, and the one where honest camera-based diagnosis makes all the difference.
Cleaning Is the Right Call When:
The camera shows accumulation inside a structurally sound pipe, the pipe walls are intact and the problem is what's in the pipe, not the pipe itself.
Repair Is the Right Call When:
The camera shows the pipe structure itself is compromised, damage that cleaning removes the symptom but not the cause, or conditions that cleaning cannot address at all.
The critical caveat: Sometimes the right answer is cleaning first, then repair later. If roots are present with minor pipe damage, hydrojetting clears the roots and provides relief while repair is scheduled. We make this recommendation explicitly when it's appropriate, providing the immediate relief you need without forcing an unnecessary same-day repair decision.
How Every Sewer Repair Works. Camera-In to Camera-Confirmed
Every repair follows the same disciplined process. The camera goes in before we recommend anything. It goes back in before we backfill anything.

What Cape Coral Homeowners Say About Our Sewer Repairs
"Main line kept clogging every few months for two years. Previous companies snaked it each time, nobody ran a camera or mentioned repair. James ran the camera, found a cracked clay tile section at 38 feet and an offset joint at 52 feet, marked both locations with spray paint on the lawn. Spot repaired both sections in one day. Not a single clog in 14 months. The diagnosis is everything."
"Camera showed cast iron corrosion throughout a 35-foot section of lateral under our backyard. James recommended pipe lining over open-cut because the section runs near our pool deck. Lining done in one day, no concrete touched, camera confirmation after showing the new pipe interior. Couldn't ask for a better result. Honest about the method and why it was right for our situation."
"Wet spot in yard along the sewer lateral path, suspected a broken line. James camera-inspected, found a collapsed section at 44 feet under the driveway. He marked the location precisely, cut the minimum driveway concrete needed, repaired, ran the camera again to confirm before backfill, then restored the concrete. Clean work, no surprises, camera confirmation before the hole was closed. That's how it should be done."
